Music Video: Kendrick Lamar x Civilized Talk

For Kendrick Lamar, the future couldn’t appear brighter. At least until he drops new music that makes you question how he manages to out do himself. It’s safe to say K Dot is one of the games premiere lyricists, regardless of tenure, which is the exactly reason Drake made sure the Compton native was apart of his Club Paradise Tour which is going on now.

Kendrick and I crossed paths once again at the video shoot for Game’s “The City” so it was only right I threw a few questions his direction, all of which he was more than willing to answer. We first dive into his head scratching omission from MTV’s Hottest MC’s List.

“I just look at it (MTV Hottest MC’s List) as an opinion factor. It’s all about what the people want at the end of the day. The people know what it is. It’s not really a big thing to me, I know it’s more exposure but the people know what it is. All it’s going to do is bring more controversy to the game. I think it’s dope, though.”

In an in depth exclusive interview, Kendrick discusses working with Dr.Dre and Pharell, Alori Joy’s tragic death, his friendly competition between Schoolboy Q and much more. – Karen Civil

Video: Kendrick Lamar & Schoolboy Q Interview w/ Peter Rosenberg

Kendrick is incredible and Q is definitely getting pretty dope himself. Sat down with them and talked about a lot including why Schoolboy Q put out a record that sort of promotes drinking and driving.

Common Replies to Drake’s Reaction To “Sweet” – A Beef Breakdown

Aiight Com, let’s get real, you mad cuz Drizzy’s waxin your girl Serena!

Common has responded to Drake after the Young Money rapper seemingly took offense to his track “Sweet.”

As previously reported on “Sweet” Common fires shots at “soft mothaf*ckas” who are “singing like Frank Sinatra.”

“Y’all soft mothaf*ckas, singing all around me man, la la la/ You ain’t motherf*ckin’ Frank Sinatra/Uh, lil’ b*tch…Sweet Ass Mothaf*cka.”

And over the weekend, Drake told fans at Power 106FM’s Cali Christmas Concert that if anyone had anything to say to him, they should say it to his face, more than likely referencing Common’s track.

“I will never stop doing this for ya’ll. I don’t give a f*ck if you have something to say to me. Say it to my muthaf*ckin’ face. Just cause I sing don’t make me no b-tch.”

Com obviously got word of Drizzy’s rant (He was at the Cali Christmas concert as well) and responded early Monday on Tony Sculfield And The Morning Riot’s radio show.

Speaking on Drake, The Dreamer, The Believer maker said,

“I made a song that’s definitely a Hip Hop song. In Hip Hop, it’s like stepping in the ring. Rap is a contact sport. So I talked about this cat that’s soft and sweet. Drake felt offended and felt it was directed towards him, so he said, ‘Man, say it to my face.’ My thing is, I’ma keep it Hip Hop. Stay on that tip. But if he falls in that category, then so be it. I’m not going to hold my tongue.”

And most recently on this beef my homie Noah 40 Shebib offered his 2 cents on the scenario. Funny cuz I can remembe smoking out to ‘One Day It Will All Make Sense’ in Shebib’s basement when we were younguns – what a trip!

Following his impressive seven-hour CD signing session in Toronto on the day of his sophomore album release for Take Care, Drake sat down with longtime friend and RapCity host T-RexXx. Hanging out in the early hours of the morning at Drake’s favourite restaurant in his hometown, the men discussed everything from Drake’s emotional attachment to the songs, collaborating again with Rihanna, the special meaning behind YOLO, and hints at what’s in store for the future.
