The Time Faith Went to Tupac’s Hotel Room

This is some ill shit right here. Faith Evans is releasing her memoirs at the end of the month and Miss Info has some scans of a few pages. The first excerpt is about the time Faith went to ‘Pac’s hotel room to pick up a check for a song they did together (”Happy Home” I think?). The second describes what happened when Biggie heard rumors that her and Tupac were fooling around.

Ice T had some choice words for Soulja Boy in a recent interview:

“Fuck Soulja Boy! Eat a dick! This nigga single handedly killed Hip Hop.”

“That shit is such garbage man,” Ice-T continues to snarl. “We came all the way from Rakim, we came all the way from Das EFX, we came all the way from motherfuckers flowing like Big Daddy Kane and Ice Cube, and you come with that Superman shit? That shit is garbage.”

Hurricane (Chris) take them fucking beads out of your hair nigga! Man up. You niggas is making me feel real fucking mad about this shit.”

In the kids defense I gotta lay the blame on Collipark for making hip-hop into kids music… Soulja’s just trying to make some chedda but its Collipark who decided this kid was fit to enter the arena. This is the same guy who brought us the Ying Yang twins…. so i’ll say this… FUCK MR. COLLIPARK!

Looks like 50 is trying to drum up further press for the latest g-unit release TOS. The big mouth is going at the King of the South. Here is a quote from the track thats setting it off via miss info:

Jay Gets His $150 Million Deal

charles_jayz405.jpg

The deal answers a question that had been circling through the rap world for months: Where would Jay-Z take his next corporate role? As part of the arrangement, Live Nation would finance the start-up of a venture that would be an umbrella for his outside projects, which are expected to include his own label, music publishing, and talent consulting and managing. Live Nation is expected to contribute $5 million a year in overhead for five years, with another $25 million available to finance Jay-Z’s acquisitions or investments, according to people in the music industry briefed on the agreement. The venture, to be called Roc Nation, will split profits with Live Nation.

Real Recognize Real

URB caught up with rap legend Nas last week and he was reportedly “smitten” once presented with the Jay Electronica issue. He also confirmed that Jay will appear on his upcoming album as producer and emcee:

URB: What makes Jay so special?
Nas: “He does him man. I thought that when you get into something you get into it because you want to represent and do it to the fullest, regardless if you getting the credit or not. I hear people that think they not getting the respect they think they deserve, complaining to people because they not on top. Or blamin’ record companies or blamin’ other rappers they record with. And you know that happens all the time but it’s rare that you see someone that’s not asking for a handout, that’s not looking for a lookout. Someone who came into the business like how I came. I didn’t come in with a platinum, multi-platinum act in the middle of the rap world when it was on top. I had a verse in ‘91 with a fairly underground rap group. And it created my buzz and I had to climb on my own. I would not have accepted me coming into the business any other way. You know? And today people get superstars to endorse them and it got a lot easier and they still complainin’. Somebody like Jay Electronica got their awareness of the same shit, superstars. He’s onto his own thing and that is everything to him. It doesn’t matter if people pay attention today. It doesn’t matter when they get it, but they going to get it.”

URB: And musically?
“He got that shit where, you know, shit just sound like music. And you can hear what he’s saying and when he gets into it he goes all the way into it. He knows there’s an audience out there that can hear what he’s saying and that’s what he’s been with me in the studio, like fuck that, they going to know what you mean, they going to know what you saying.”

Gloria Velez Puts Joe Buddens on BLAST!

hhhmmmm…. she paints a pretty picture lol.. sounds like a brooding, childish, passive aggressive, woman beating, premature ejaculator… lmfao. digital storage of media is a priceless addition in this era.

Chris Rock Droppin Jewelz

“Music kind of sucks. Nobody’s into being a musician. Everybody’s getting their mogul on. You’ve been so infiltrated by this corporate mentality that all the time you’d spend getting great songs together, you’re busy doing nine other things that have nothing to do with art. You know how shitty Stevie Wonder’s songs would have been if he had to run a fuckin’ clothing company and a cologne line?… Rap sucks, for the most part. Not all rap, but as an art form it’s just not at its best moment. Sammy the Bull would have made a shitty album. And I don’t really have a desire to hear Warren Buffett’s album - or the new CD by Paul Allen. That’s what everybody’s aspiring to be.”
Soooo fucking true. What do you hear about when they interview 50? Soundscan, rotation of singles, marketing plans, etc. Not a word about the music… what about the fucking music. I liked it better when my favourite artist was a broke ass struggling with something important to say….
